I love when you show us pinterest inspo and design inspo stuff - it adds so much variety to your posts and is so cool to see what's inspiring you. Thanks!

Our closet is intentionally designed to mimic the feel of my favorite local boutiques on Main Street. I wanted decent storage that also made it feel special, like I shop my closet. Off season storage is up top; I have front facing hanging racks for tops and pants. A dresser right under and all my shoes in lucite boxes. A beautiful light fixture - we ripped out the fluorescent bar. A set of drawers in the center and above that two cubbies where I display my favorite seasonal bags. It’s not finished but my husband did it all on his own including building walls to make it a VERY tiny walk in. I even have my own “clueless closet” - took my old iPad, wiped it, and loaded it up with the StyleBook app which has every clothing and jewelry item I own on it. Mounted it to the closet wall. I’m kind of a nerd for data so I love looking at cost per wear, colors etc. Anyway! Our hats hang up in our room for decoration. Definitely brings a soft yet purposeful look to our space.

Oh! And I’ve taken to leaving one of my larger bags on the receiving bench in our front living room. For example right now it’s my vintage leather Coach bucket bag but a week ago it was my monogrammed Madewell Transport tote. I love how it adds to the texture and the story of the space.

I live in an apartment that was built in 1929. My closet is long but narrow, so I can technically walk into it (about a step and a half), but the clothes rack is along the back, short wall. The closet is too narrow to put a rack along the long wall. So I hang my backpacks and tote bags on hooks along one of the long walls, and my purses along the other. I have my shoes lined up along the wall underneath where my purses hang. It looks great, everything is out where I can see it, and when I stand in the doorway of my closet, I can see everything at once--clothes, shoes, accessories. It really helps me think of outfits rather than individual items. As you said, the constraint ended up boosting my creativity. I even put a pretty rug down on the floor of the closet, and it looks like a (tiny, dark, awkwardly designed) boutique! I actually love it now.

Beautiful and so true! I love this concept. Also, sidenote — where oh where did you find your Be Gentle With Yourself print? ❤️
